Captain Caveman
The full title of this series is Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels. It aired in the 1977-1980 period, though I for one saw it in the 90’s on Cartoon Network. One of my favorites, Captain Caveman was produced by Hanna-Barbera. Among Captain Caveman’s powers were super-strength, the ability to hide an object in his fur no matter the size and club that almost seems to be part of Inspector Gadget’s arsenal, with lots of useful tools attached to it.
With Mel Blanc as the actor that gave Captain Caveman the voice, his favorite battle cry was “Captain CAAAAVEMAAAAAN!”. The main characters of the series were Captain Caveman and three girls, Brenda Chance, Taffy Dare and Dee Dee Sykes. Some say that the Captain Caveman show was actually a parody of Charlie’s Angels, which also aired in that period.
Even after Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels show was canceled, he still got to show up as a guest character in different series. One of them was in a backup segment for the Flintstones, called Captain Caveman …and Son! This duo also appeared in Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law.
