IGPX
IGPX, or Immortal Grand Prix which is its full name, was an animated cartoon, produced by two different companies at the same time, Cartoon Network and Production I.G. The IGPX series done by Cartoon Network was a short 5 episodes run, while the one done by Production I.G. was 26 episodes long and was related as a subject. The micro-series done by Cartoon Network was run in 2003, while the other IGPX was done in 2005.
There are considerable differences between the two. While in the 2003 IGPX it was more of a battle event, in the 2005 series it was transformed in a race between mechs, but still allowed to attack the opponents. The year when the action takes place in IGPX is 2049 and the scene is an entire city dedicated to racing, with a 60 mile long track.
The heroes of this series are a team of rookies, called Team Satomi, who were just promoted to the first league. The first round of the track is for testing the mechs, the second one is for battle. A race is done by 2 opposing teams with 3 members each. A forward, a midfielder and a defender are the three members of each team.
The competitors for Team Satomi are these teams: Velshtein, Sledge Mamma, Black Egg, Edgeraid, Skylark and White Snow.
In 2006 IGPX got their own video game on Sony Playstation 2.
